CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1135

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, a residence in the 6500 block of West Briarwood was burglarized. The suspect broke the glass pane in the front door and was able to unlock the deadbolt. The suspect took two safes containing cash and jewelry valued at over $45,000.00.

There was video surveillance of the property, which showed the suspect to be an Asian or Hispanic male, 5’10, medium build, wearing a light colored t-shirt, blues jeans and a hard hat. The suspect’s vehicle is a newer model, gray, midsize Chevy vehicle.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1134

Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, two black males robbed the Quik Trip at 2801 S. Hydraulic.  One suspect entered the store armed with a handgun; the other held a stun gun. One suspect used the stun gun on an employee stocking the shelves. They then  forced the employee to open the cash register and give them the money and fled on foot. Loss was minimal, and the clerk was not injured.

The suspect with the stun gun was in his 20s, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt; black pants; black shoes with white soles; a black hat with a gold sticker on the bill and gold writing on the front; a black mask; and brown cloth gloves.

 The other man was also in his 20s, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a green shirt, black pants, a black mask and brown cloth gloves.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1133

On Tuesday, August 9, at approximately 9 p.m. the Dollar General Store at 915 S. Glendale was robbed. A black male entered the store with a handgun and demanded the money from the register and a customer standing in line. A second employee attempted to intervene and the suspect struck the employee in the head multiple times with the handgun. The robber fled without the money and the employee suffered minor injuries.

The suspect is a black male, late teens to early twenties, 5’09, 180 pounds, thin build, wearing a gray mask, black short sleeve shirt, black pants, black shoes, and armed with a black handgun.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1132

In the early morning hours of Thursday, July 28, an arsonist struck the First Pentecostal Church at 1755 E.  MacArthur. The arsonist targeted the fleet of buses used by the church to transport the congregation to services. The arsonist placed trash cans lit on fire into two of the buses, which spread to the other buses in the lot. Four of the buses are a total loss and four other buses suffered fire damage. The total loss exceeded over $30,000.00.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1132

On Monday, July 18 at approximately 11 P.M. the Bobby McGee Liquor and Smoke Shop at 2119 E. Central was robbed. Two black males entered the liquor store and put a gun to the employees head demanding the money from the register. The first suspect took the money and ran out of the store. The second suspect entered the smoke shop and put a gun to the employee there. The suspect demanded the cash from the register and ran out of the store. Loss was cash and a bottle of liquor.

Suspect 1 was described as a light skin black male, 25 to 30 years old, 200 to 225 pounds, short hair, and armed with a handgun.

Suspect 2 was described as a black male, 35 to 40 years old, 6’00 tall, 200 pounds, short hair, and armed with a handgun.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1131

The Wichita Police Department needs your help to solve a copper wire theft that is one in many in an ongoing string of thefts. Sometime between Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13, unknown person or persons stripped the copper wire from an external Central Air Conditioning Unit at Lincoln Street Elementary, located at 1210 S. Topeka. The loss and damage to unit exceeded several thousand dollars.

Do to the ongoing thefts of copper wire from air conditioning units the Wichita Police Department would also like to ask any citizen that witnesses and suspicious activity near any air conditioning units to call 911 for law enforcement to investigate.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1129

On Saturday, July 2 at approximately 4 a.m. two individuals broke a glass door to the Sprint store at 2330 N. Maize Rd. The thieves entered the business through the broken door and took multiple cell phones, laptops, and tablets. The total loss is estimated to be over $6,000.00. 

The two suspects were wearing jeans and dark colored hoodies.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1128

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 5, two individuals went to Valley Center High School located at 9600 N. Meridian. There is currently construction taking place and several vehicles and construction equipment left on scene. The two suspects were able to get into a 2004 Chevy truck and a Case front loader. The two vehicles were used to drive across the practice field, strike several trees, and knock down three goal posts before getting stuck in a nearby milo field. Damage to the football field and the vehicles is estimated to exceed $46,000.00.

The two suspects were white males that arrived and left on a dark colored moped. One suspect was wearing all dark clothing and the second suspect was wearing a light colored shirt with dark colored shorts.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1127

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 12, the manager of Goodwill Industries at 5525 W. Central was headed to make the daily deposit. The manager was inside their vehicle ready to go, when a black male got into the back seat. The suspect forced the manager to drive through a near by neighborhood, stopping at Central and Custer.  The suspect was getting into the front seat when the manager attempted to get away. A short struggle occurred and the manager was able to escape. The suspect left with the deposit and the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a few blocks away.

The suspect is a black male, 35 – 45 years of age, 5’07, medium build, and was wearing a blue wind breaker with white vertical stripes, and sunglasses.

CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1126

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29th a black 2011 Ford Fusion was stolen from a business parking lot in the 2100 block of north Topeka. The suspects intentionally drove the vehicle into the Plaza Mexico shopping center at 828 W. 25th St. N.  Damage to the shopping center exceeded $11,000.

The two unknown suspects were wearing hoods, gloves, and covering their faces with an article of clothing.
